Our Compliance Software (from Shield Compliance, a Metrc validated integrator) provides access seed-to-sale (or "track-and-trace") tracking information. Data access is limited to inquiry only with no ability to add, delete or update records within your seed-to-sale account. You retain control over the access to Metrc through the issuance of an API Key, which may be revoked by you at any time. In the event you withdraw the key, we may require additional supporting sales information or limit access to banking services.
- To enter your key, your Metrc administrator will need to log into Metrc to get their API key.
- When logged in, navigate to the API keys page to see your user specific API Key. If one is not displayed, the user will need to "Generate" one. WARNING: Do not generate a new key if there is one present – this will invalidate the existing key that may be used in your other system(s), such as your POS. If the key is regenerated, it will need to be updated in other systems.

- Once the API key is displayed, the user will copy and paste into Shield Compliance Portal when prompted for their API Key. If the key is from the Metrc admin, the user should be able to use the same Trace API key for all licenses (see gold steps below). If not, enter each trace key for its respective license (see green arrow below).
From your Tasks, Open the Track-and-Trace Credentials (API Key / UBI) Required case and select Enter API Key

If the same API Key applies to all licenses associated with the client, select the Use API Key for all licenses checkbox. This enables the API Key field at the top of the page, where you can enter a single API Key that will be applied to all licenses below (as well as any future licenses).
If each license has its own unique API Key, leave the checkbox unchecked and enter the appropriate API Key in the field corresponding to each individual license.

Once all API keys have been entered, select Submit at the bottom of the page.

The case will auto close and be sent to your Financial Institution's queue for review.
